Impressive undergraduate project breaking new ground

StFX students have long been known for the depth and breadth of their undergraduate projects. But stripping down, readjusting, and putting back together a professor’s brand new $80,000 Picarro Analyzer, an instrument secured with Canadian Foundation for Innovations (CFI) funds.

For fourth year environmental honours student Jocelyn Egan of Ottawa, ON that feat was only one aspect on an impressive undergraduate honours thesis project she’s been involved with much of the past year.

They may not be entering the Dragon’s Den – just  yet – but 23 StFX students put their business ideas to the test before a panel of judges in the 2010 Business Concept Competition hosted by StFX Enterprise Development Centre (XEDC) and the Schwartz School of Business.

Earth sciences student Travis McCarron wins APICS – NSERC Award for best presentation

Congratulations to Travis McCarron, a fourth year honours earth sciences student from Antigonish, NS, who has won the prestigious APICS-NSERC award for the best paper presented at the 2010 Atlantic Universities Geological Conference held Oct. 30 at Acadia University.
