Discovery Disclosure Form

The purpose of the Invention Disclosure Form is to record what was or may have been invented and the circumstances under which the invention was made. It provides the basis for a determination of patentability and the data for drafting a patent application. It is a legally important document, which should be read carefully before completing.
An Invention Disclosure should be made when it is believed that something new and useful has been conceived or developed, or when unusual, unexpected or unobvious research results have been achieved and can be utilized.
This form does not obligate you to use the StFX ILO or any of its services to commercialize your invention, nor does it assign any rights to St. Francis Xavier University over the intellectual property disclosed within. The information on this form is confidential among the inventor(s), the StFX ILO and StFX University administration.
