Textbook Returns Policy

Applies to textbooks purchased from StFX University Campus Store (and any affiliate locations)

Time Guidelines for returning New Texts

  • Two weeks following the start of courses in the Fall or Winter semesters and one week from the start of all other intermediate semesters.
    • Refunds (By Cash, VISA, MC, AMEX or Debit Card, according to original method of payment) are subject to 5% restocking-handling charge.
  • New textbooks purchased after the two week time period has expired and up to the end of the 4th week of classes for the fall and winter terms, returns must be done within 2 business days of purchase date.
    • Refunds (By Cash, VISA, MC, AMEX or Debit Card, according to original method of payment) are subject to 10% restocking-handling charge.
  • New Textbooks purchased after this return period will not be refunded unless the course has been dropped and the student has a signed drop sheet. The book must be returnable, in mint condition and the original sales receipt must be presented.

  • Time Guidelines for returning Used Texts

    • One week following the start of courses in the Fall or Winter semesters and one week from the start of all other intermediate semesters.

    • Used Textbooks - After the 1st week of class has expired, if you have chosen to withdraw from your studies at StFX, have a letter of withdraw, and have used textbooks, please see Campus Store Management. Depending on the course and the condition of the text, a refund may be issued.
      • Refunds (By Cash, VISA, MC, AMEX or Debit Card, according to original method of payment) are subject to 10% restocking-handling charge.

    All other textbook sales are final.

    Conditions

    • New textbooks must be in new condition, no marks of any kind, with any media components unopened, and in fully resalable state. Wrapped materials may be returned only if the shrink wrap is intact.
    • Used textbooks must be in the same condition as when sold.
    • The original cash register receipt for purchase must be presented.
    • Picture ID must be presented (StFXU picture ID preferred).
    • Current Student StFXU ID Number must be provided.

    Non-Returnable Items

    • CoursePacks are sold on a non-returnable basis only. You should make sure you have the correct item and exactly what you need before completing the purchase.
    • Shrink-wrapped items are not returnable if the shrink wrap is removed.
    • Newspapers, magazines, and programmed material are not returnable.

    Store Credit

    In all cases where the return policy has been followed and a return would normally be granted with a restocking fee, the restocking fee could be waived if the customer agreed to accept full in-store credit for the value of the purchase.
